Peony, 1/3 of PRP blog (which stands for photographing real people and also Pete, Rowie and Peony, the creators behind the blog) which popped up during London Fashion Week (and who doesn't love a good pop-up?!). The blog is still up so be sure to check it out and find out what PRP got up to during the week.
I have been dithering over posting photos of Peony and Rowie (I have their outfits from each day at LFW!). I think once someone I have photographed becomes a friend, I find it more difficult to choose photos....I never want to disappoint or have them hate their photos! So I just procrastinate and procrastinate...
p.s. I was over at Peony's house last week for afternoon tea (homemade Ottolenghi carrot cake, and cupcakes-helllllllllllloooooooooo!) and was lamenting the current state of my hair (which ever so slightly currently resembles a blonde birds nest). Peony swears by Philip Kingsley products (which I already use) but insists that the way to get gorgeous hair (and hello, look at hers!) that I MUST start brushing my hair twice a day. Um, I have to confess that I haven't brushed my hair twice a day since high school. I am a once a day girl. Anyone else just brush once or am I just horrifically lazy?!

Pshhh...uh, I barely brush at all, so don't feel bad! My gosh, she does have lovely hair though...I'll be keeping her advice in mind if i actually stick with my epic plan to grow my hair out...
ReplyDeleteI don't even brush my hair so you're doing pretty well.
ReplyDelete@Rose and @anon- ha ha! I suspect a lot of us are once a day or not at all brushers!
ReplyDeleteDepends what going on that day, if I have a chance to brush a second time I will lol.

Ha great post about hair brushing! I wash my hair at night, comb through Moroccan Oil at night and when I wake up in the morning - no brushing needed, its like magic! x

Beautiful girl :)
ReplyDeletehttp://deshistoiresdepieds.blogspot.com/2010/11/au-regime-part-3.html
She's so elegant.
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't even brush once a day, maybe just once every three days, long live smooth hair that doesn't need combing ;)
Love her golden nails!!
ReplyDeleteI wash my hair every other evening and brush it properly only before I wash it. If I brushed it in the morning it would turn into one frizzy mass, it really looks better unbrushed.
I have just brushed my hair and now they are drying... I think it's already too late to wash them for the second time :) Anyway she's beautiful in that golden nuances!I was amazed by her nail polish

...but maybe I'm doing something wrong there? I'm probably not the best person to give hair advice.
ReplyDeleteI just took a look at her blog and I thing It's pretty cool. Thanks for sharing! Oh! and her hair is indeed beautiful!! :)

@I am vintage lover- oooo I must see about this moroccan oil- is it only for hair? I use some leave in conditioner stuff (not Philip K) and it leaves a "tacky" feeling on the ends. Must try the moroccan oil.
ReplyDelete@Salony- huh! Lucky you with your smooth hair! Those of us who require GHD irons are in complete envy of you.
@T- ooo, yes, meant to say that Peony got her nails done at Wah nails (think it was at the topshop branch) but I know she also does them herself as well.
I love everything about her look, so perfect!
ReplyDeleteAaand, I do try to brush my hair fairly often but only because I know its good for it and my hair is pretty dry + colored + long
Ooh my god, this gotta be my favorite post of all time on your blog. Your friend is beautiful, her make up is picture perfect, just wow!And how cool are those nails?
ReplyDeleteHmm, I do brush my hair once a day, before drying, but I am gonna try the two-times-a-day brushing and see if my ahair turns out to be as gorgeous as hers ;-)
And I heard so much about that maroccan oil, I absolutely have to try it.
ha, i bought one of those expensive mason pearson hairbrushes and even that didn't get me to brush my hair twice a day!
ReplyDeleteok, now back to ogling all the Hermes in these pictures...
amazing photos, great look

@koko- that's the brush peony uses! I have one of the denman? brushes but they seem to come apart after about 6 months- probably cos I yank it through my hair.shhhhhh we won't tell peony that!
ReplyDelete@amica- so glad you like the post! I just got home so am off for a second brushing!
i brush my hair once a day on a GOOD day! it's amazing it isn't more of a rats nest... but if brushing it twice a day is what it takes to get such gorgeous locks i'm willing to give it a try.
ReplyDeletepeony is absolutely stunning and you have captured her so well in these shots vanessa. she looks like an absolute dream. was so pleasantly surprised by how genuinely nice her and row were at LFW. they are both gorgeous. lovely lovely post vanessa. xx
p.s. just spotted those incredible GOLD NAILS! oh my goodnes... seriously stunning with all the jewelry and neutral shades. x
ReplyDelete@the style crusader-argh jen! I just typed out a long reply and the bluddy iPhone lost it all! Poopy! Anyway to summarise, thank you so much for your lovely encouragement& super kind words-on this post and all the others over many months. I really appreciate it. Ha ha! Glad we have same hair issues! I am loving the dialogue and people's responses to the hair brushing- my mum always told me to brush morning&night but it really did go out the window after I finished high school....well it was the 90's grunge period so I am gonna say it was because of the fashion!
ReplyDeleteAren't the golf nails divine! I am hoping to go to wag nails one
Whoops! Sorry meant aren't the gold nails divine! I am going to go to wah nails one day but think it will be for toenails rather than fingernails.
ReplyDelete@koko- the bracelets aren't Hermes just in case you were wondering! They are vintage
Her nails are amazing!!!!! So is everything else for that matter!
ReplyDeletePersonally, I have very curly hair. Brushing it at any time is NOT an option. I would end up looking like Richard Simmons, only slightly longer and blonder.
@anon- hilarious! Richard Simmons!!!!! That's gold!
ReplyDeleteWell here's a shock for everyone... I never brush my hair. haha what a surprise. I did brush my hair specially when i went to see peony and row this weekend though, those two put me to shame!
ReplyDeletebeautiful work as ALWAYS lady! x
hi vanessa, peony has nice hair and face. but unsure about her style. nothing looks effortless, even from her own blog.
ReplyDeleteabsolutely stunning! love the colors : gold has definitely its magic.
ReplyDeleteI'm really loving your blog:)

ReplyDeletewow - the pictures are elegance personified, the way the pictures have been take is too good, very good jewelry that she is wearing too, the dresses are cool, i am a shopping buff too and love to buy from the best stores around the world
ReplyDeleteMaybe I shouldn't admit that I brush 3 times... a week :/ Now who's lazy, Vanessa?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos and I'm positive Peony loves them! "Peony" is such a pretty name BTW :)
officially obsessed...all the details are perfection!!and those nails - swoon!
ReplyDeleteJust in case anyone is wondering Peony's outfit is from, here are the details:
ReplyDelete"Scarf is from this awesome "china arts and crafts" place in HK. I love it there everything is reasonable and lovely.
The Cardigan is good old zara.
The tee is H&M.
The skirt was amazing steal in the Harvey Nicks sale, marked wrong, wasn't meant to be on sale! Woop! (NOTE TO PEONY from VJ- hope noone from Harvey Nichols reads this!)
The shoes are Prada.
The bag is my fav Hermes
And the bracelets are just vintage.
The nails were done by WAH, it's called minx... But you can get DIY on Topshop.com and ASOS"
@Frances- Frances you crack me up! Your tweets are the best!! Next time we see each other we will the neatest hair possible!
@Sara Bentley-ha! I read it first and went damn, she's a 3 times a day girl! But then the word week popped up....I don't feel so bad now!
@Pretty Mommy- I like Peony's suggestion of do it yourself but I could see gold nail polish getting over the couch and everything else!
What a great blog you have. Added to my daily list of reading! Glad of the discovery.
ReplyDeleteLove all that she is wearing!!
ReplyDelete1kisS!*
Impeccable, from head to toe - this is truly classic style - rich, textured, understated. As well thought out as a table tableau. I have outfit envy!
ReplyDelete-Sanity Fair
Gorgeous photos - she has a great style and is really beautiful and look at that hair. I guess I have to start brushing twice too.
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog and I love it.

ReplyDeleteUhm I brush once and only if I have to go out...so I'm just recognizing that on weekends I don't brush my hair at all ;)
ReplyDeleteLovely blog, awesome pictures! Well done!
argh sometimes I just move it in place with my hands sooo lazy, I would recomend coconut oil mask for moisture every week.

P.S Am googling the Ottolenghi carrot cake right now!
So gorgeous. I like her beauty.
ReplyDeleteI don't really brush . . . I comb instead. Definitely twice a day. More if I am wearing my new hat and have to take it off.
ReplyDeleteStunning photographs, BTW.
Once a day fer suure, however I will take trying it twice a day into consideration!
ReplyDeletex
she might be the most beautiful person i've ever seen.....
ReplyDeleteohhhkaaayyyyy chill, i brush my hair once every two days. hahahhaa. i'd prefer to brush it with my fingers. more natural. lol.

She is beautiful-I am guessing genes are also to blame for her thick hair. A lot of women with asian genes have thick hair that always look like they use hours on their hair.
