On a very cold day in January, I ventured to Brighton for the day (around an hour on the train from London). It was one of the few non-grey days in January and I spent it wandering around Brighton, chatting to people, taking photos, having breakfast at Bill's Cafe, coffee at Taylor St Baristas and watching the sun go down while sitting on the beach. A nice way to spend the day by the seaside :)

I've never been to Brighton before. Actually, I haven't made it out much since I moved down to London from Scotland ( I went to the University of St Andrews). What a beautiful post, it made me crave a little getaway (and that food looks delish!)

@ PvdH journal- ooo you definitely need to go! It is super chilled and relaxed (well, maybe more in the winter than the summer). I went during the summer holidays last year and the train ride back home to London was a bit stressy- so many people!
ReplyDeletebrighton is so lovely, you captured it so well! :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photographs.

Lovely photos !!
ReplyDeleteBrighton is the best!
ReplyDeleteoh i adore these photographs <3 especially the policemen graffiti art. though the first few seem kind of sad & lonely, empty of people..
ReplyDelete@Esther- that is a very astute observation Esther. Despite the bright colours they do look quite alone and empty. I like that photos can produce that sort of reaction/emotion. Very cool! I think the Banksy (Kissing Coppers) has now been sold from that pub. The "original" was removed some time ago (the stencil remains) as people kept damaging it....
ReplyDeleteI was in Brighton so very briefly last month for a wedding (the inside of the town hall is really something special, you should see it if you go back). Your photographs really make me regret that I didn't have time to do any good wandering around! They're very atmospheric - seaside towns in the winter are the best thing.
ReplyDeleteLovely! I've just booked to visit in September for a couple of days, hopefully is nice and bright like this! x
ReplyDelete@Young Shields- you will love it! Hopefully the weather will be like today was - so pretty. There are lots of lovely restaurants and coffee shops there now....

ReplyDelete@Francois- I love William's work. The red head girl at the counter is one of my favourite's of his work. I must google Martin now...

ReplyDeleteVanessa, not at all! You live in London! I would love to see more documentary series of anything- fashion, BTS, stylish people, London shopping......you're so great at it!
ReplyDelete@Peta-Yo! thanks so much for the encouragement.... I have a few ideas for some projects in London. Just got to do them!
ReplyDelete@Eirin- thanks Eirin. I like that description as well" happier, warmer times awaiting"..... I think there was a certain "deserted" feel about the pier in January. Although it was a fine day there weren't too many people at the pier and not all the rides were open.
you take FANTASTIC photos! really a fan!

ReplyDelete@Mat-it is a really great place- it feels very different from London, more relaxed. It felt like early morning when I left home bc of the darkness of winter but was probably about 7:30am!
ReplyDeleteTruly beautiful photography. You have an amazing eye for detail and angles. Fabulous work!!!
