Weekend Life....Daylesford Organic Summer Festival

Daylesford Organic Summer Festival, Gloucestershire, 19 May 2012.

On a wet and chilly morning a few weeks ago, we headed with friends to the beautiful Daylesford Organic Farm in the heart of Gloucestershire for their annual summer festival. I am a regular visitor to the Daylesford organic shops/cafe's in Notting Hill and Pimlico in London but this was my first visit to the organic farm where (most) of the food for the farm shops is grown or reared. It is a stunning property (owned by Sir Anthony and Lady Bamford) and despite the weather we all had a fabulous time. There were cooking demonstrations (with special guest chef Raymond Blanc), farm tours via tractor/trailer train , a jazz band, dog show (my absolute favourite part of the day..... I love photographing kids and dogs! I think I photographed the winner of "Your Child's Best Friend" category and "Dog Most Like It's Owner" but it all got a bit confusing as to who had won what;), a delicious sausage sizzle (with sausages and hamburgers from the Daylesford farm), cider tasting, bread making demonstrations, sheep dog demonstrations and lots more. I can't wait to go again next year!

p.s. If you live in London or even if you are just visting, I have just read that Daylesford Organic have a pop-up cafe on the roof of Selfridges. I can't wait to try it out!

  3. Hi Vanessa, I love Daylesford Organic. I visited their Cafe and farmshop at Pimlico Road last April. I wish I was there to attend their summer event. I would love to try their Rose Frizzante. I even featured them in my blog too:www.thestyleandtrave-journals.blogspot.com/2012/06/Daylesford. Thanks for sharing this lovely post.

  4. @everyone - thanks so much! The farm really is so beautiful - I am in love with the heart shaped gates!

@PAmela RG - Love the cafe in Pimlico! Great food and a wonderful place to shop for gifts for people who are tricky to buy for - I bought my friend Peony a heart shaped cheese/cake board from there for Christmas. Their teatowels are lovely as well - nice and thick and it makes drying the dishes less of a chore (kind of ;). The summer festival was fab - you will have to try and make it next year Pamela! hopefully the weather will be a bit more summery :)
