Super sweet Doina from The Golden Diamonds blog, before Rick Owens, Paris, March 2012.
I wish I could shoot in this type of light every day.....it was a fleeting 5 minute moment before the show when the sun peeped out from behind the clouds.
Recreate Doina's beautiful winter look (kind of):
Vero Moda Very lace overlay top, Dolce & Gabbana lace and cashmere top, Juicy Couture leather detailed lace top, ASOS heavy lace top with peplum, Kaelen seamed lace top
Add a shiny, happy skirt:
Creatures of The Wind brocade skirt, ASOS Premium trumpet mini skirt, Kenzo pleated brocade mini skirt, Marc Jacobs metallic boucle skirt
If you prefer a dress (I can't quite work out whether Doina's is a dress or a top and skirt), these two dresses have a similar feel and both incorporate lace: Catherine Deane Maria dress or Of Two Minds Dinorah dress
Ankle boots: Burberry Prorsum ankle boots, Michael Michael Kors ankle boots or River Island Ombro boots
oh wow this is really elegant! I love the mix of lace with metallic textures, it is really beautiful! madrilicious.com

I love Doina!
ReplyDeleteShe's one of my favorite bloggers ever. Every single one of her outfits is really lovely and she definitely looks marvelous in anything she wears!
This look is definitely one that Doina carries off so wonderfully.
At first glance, the outfit doesn't seem right. Written down on a piece of paper, black lace paired with a blue skirt just seems so jarring and wrong. Yet somehow, when translated into a real live look, that combination just has a certain something about it that makes it special. The black lace sleeves on Doina's top somehow just feel right paired with the metallicy blue skirt. The darkness in the skirt plays off the darkness in the top while the black and the vibrant blue contrast in the nicest way.
So despite my initial reservations, I definitely think Doina did a great job styling this outfit and making it work!
For the Anon who asked for the designer of the skirt, it's from Asos.
Here's the link to the post on Doina's blog if anyone is interested!
