Emily Weiss from Into the Gloss blog, Tuileries, Paris, October 2012.
I posted a slightly different set of photos of Emily in this outfit in November last year but with the change of season from winter → spring and summer → autumn (depending on where you live), it seems even more relevant now. The trouble with trans-seasonal weather is that it can be just so unpredictable: cold or rainy in the morning, followed by warm sun in the afternoon and then freezing again in the evening. Layering a light trench or coat over a shirt/sweater and keeping your legs bare (either with shorts or a skirt) is (one) way of dealing with the complexity of four seasons in one day :)
Recreate Emily's look (kind of):
Costume National trench coat, Reiss Finlee Off White gathered back coat, Burberry London embellished trench coat, Topshop Ovoid parka, DKNY trapeze coat, or Edun drawstring parka
Theyskens' Theory Panther Flacky shorts, Vince linen trouser shorts, DKNY tuxedo shorts, ASOS tailored shorts, Theory Bistretch 2 Lynie shorts, or Alice + Olivia leather trim flutter shorts
Rag & Bone classic Newbury booties, Steven Regain booties, Acne Pistol leather ankle booties, or Topshop Mighty black leather zip boots
McQ Alexander McQueen Stepney tote, 3.1 Phillip Lim Scout drawstring tote, or Proenza Schouler The PS11 leather tote
The pants are my best piece! All the outfit is cool too!
