The fabulous Sadaf, Fashion Market Editor, Famous magazine (Australia).
p.s. Am back from Italy and had an amazing time. We spent a couple of nights in Florence (had 2 great meals at Ristorante Il Latini and Trattoria Sostanza, as well as some delicious gelati- my jeans are definitely feeling tighter!) and then headed to the beautiful Tuscan countryside where some friends were getting married. The weather was incredible and watching the sun set during the reception was magical (watching the cavorting on the dance floor to "Down Under"- it was an American/Australian wedding- was rather less so!). After the wedding we drove (not a trip for the timid driver!) via Cinque Terre to Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino on the Italian Riveria which was achingly beautiful-exactly like you see in postcards. The air was rich with the scent of jasmine, the water crisp and clear (I had my first ever swim in the Mediterranean), the churches and buildings hugging the cliffs, amazing, and the food, fantastic. We found a small cafe/bar overlooking Santa Margherita and spent each afternoon sipping drinks and feasting on plates of fresh insalata caprese, salami and prosciutto and melon while watching the super-yachts cruising the bay. I would go back in a heartbeat :)
florence is my fav city!amazing!

@Simona- it is so very beautiful! I hang my head in shame though and admit that I haven't actually been to the Uffizi or the Accademia Gallery- I always leave it to the last minute to book and by then all the tickets are sold out. Next time I visit I must go!
ReplyDeletei love italia! And also, that is the most amazing little thing, to have feathers as shoulder pads! Genius!

Sounds like a wonderful time, I can only imagine how good the food must have been!
ReplyDeleteThis is a very cute look, I love the pockets and fullness of the skirt. The feathers are interesting too, I wonder if it was a DIY?

oh vanessa all these shots are so beautiful. your trip sounds absolutely incredible! xx
ReplyDelete@I speak mojito (cool name!) and @Lorena-Hmmmm I can't remember where she said the top was from and whether it was DIY. It kind of reminds me of an owl's feathers for some reason, or the models with the feathered eyebrows at the Bianca Spender show!
ReplyDelete@The style crusader- Ahhhhh thank you, Jen :)))) Just wish I was still on the trip!!!
Gorgeous shots, this has to be my favorite love the body and the full skirt combo and those feather shoulder, just bliss

ReplyDeleteAhhh la mia bella Italia!! I´m in love with that country, we gotta admit that Europe is awesome hehe
Happy that you enjoyed your time there Vanessa!!
@Elmo- just a pity my Italian didn't improve! For some reason I was speaking more French than I ever have in France!!! Odd how that happens :))
ReplyDeletehahahah I trust you!! Somehow I ended up saying some words in french my last time in Italy...so oddish! lol
ReplyDeleteI think i had a nonsense language crossing :)
(or maybe blame on wine)
Ha ha! Yep, I second the wine option!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I spent a few days in the Cinque Terre a couple years ago, and I still dream about it all the time, it's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been, just like something right out of a movie. I want to go back so badly--and this time make a stop in Portofino as well!
ReplyDeletethe feather detail is gorgeous!

Love the feathers - looks like she DIY'ed an American Apparel U-neck? Great blog - very inspiring

Very pretty look. Love the way you unveiled her in your series of photos.
ReplyDeleteGrazie Mille everyone!! Okay, so I asked Sadaf's colleague, Eleanor, where Sadaf's outfit was from and she said the top was handmade for her, and the skirt she picked up in Urban Outfitters (when she was on holiday- Urban Outfitters isnt in Aus yet but I know they deliver to Australia and I think I heard rumours of a possible store opening :))
ReplyDelete@Chiara- lucky you!!! Santa Margherita is so beautiful as is Camogli where we spent the morning wandering. I loved the Villa Durazzo on the hill in Santa Margherita and the S. Giacomo di Corte church next door- both were stunning.
@Curiouser and Curiouser- You lucky ducky Jo!!! I don;t know what I am more jealous of- your living in Paris leading up to fashion week or your travels in Italy!! We once went to a outlet shopping centre (just outside Florence) back in October 2005 and I dithered over a Gucci wallet. I didnt buy it and still regret not doing so to this day- however it did mean that I got a studded pair of Miu Miu flats in London- which I still wear!
@Ringo, have a banana!-I would have loved to have done the Cinque Terra walk but we just didn;t have time. We did meet an American couple who had just done it and they did say it was fairly difficult to do all in one day- I worry that I would pass out half way through! Definitely do Portofino next time around- it is really gorgeous although I think the choice of restaurants/bars etc is better in Santa Margherita.
Liya- I pretty much love anywhere I have travelled :))) I really want to do the Amalfi Coast and also Sardinia and Corsica and and and....! You will love London!
Vanessa I'm loving your blog more and more each time I visit!! So glad you enjoyed the trip - sounds absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeletei love her top! and the embellished shoulder.
ReplyDeleteThe feather on the shoulder is amazing!
