Lilac always conjures up images of my nana, my childhood room (it was the 70's!), hankies, vases full of flowers, furtively sneaking dabs from yellowing bottles of perfume....it isn't a colour I would normally wear (although I did have a pair of Katharine Hamnett palest lilac heels in the 1990's). But seeing it here, all loose and flowy, paired with a simple black jumpsuit (and oh so beautiful hair!) makes me think I should reconsider my colour options.
I think I have photographs of 3 different girls on the same day wearing straw boaters!
p.s. Has anyone else in London spent the day killing those horrid flying ant critters which have suddenly appeared? I think I have squished close to 200 which have somehow made their way into my lounge room.HIDEOUS! I have to type with my legs up on a chair to prevent them getting at me :)
Sarah Grittini from L'Uomo Vogue. I actually met Sarah last year while I was wandering around in the Marais trying to decide where to go for lunch.....I think she said she studied law at university before working for Vogue.
Kristina Gisors from Your.Private.Shopperin the cutest little knitted shorts. I asked her where they were from (I do try to ask for you guys!). And she told me. And I promptly forgot :( But somewhere in the deepest, darkest recesses of my brain I am thinking Gap, Zara or Cos (hmmmm that really narrows it down doesn't it?!)
I'm not sure what I adore the most about this girl.....her cinched-at- the-waist dress, her gorgeous (very complex looking) braid, the grown-up, classic handbag or her espadrille wedges. Mostly I think it is a combination of everything.
Old school or rowing blazer sitting around in your cupboard gathering dust and attracting moths???? Pull it out, pray it still fits and do what Ester Quek from The Rake magazine has done and team it with a neat pair of trousers, pocket square, two-tone brogues*, a striped tee and a pair of very pretty, very feminine, very tiny flower earrings (which I know you guys can't really see but I can!). Taking influence from the boys but keeping it girly with accessories (note also her gold necklace- I can't quite make out what is on it, little birds maybe?)
Boys, Boys, Boys at Paul Smith's men's show on Sunday, absolutely my favourite collection of models during the shows. Bravo to the casting director for using guys of all ages, races and varying degrees of facial and bodily hair.
And an additional bravo to the person whose idea it was to serve Magnum Temptation Fruit ice-creams before and after the show! Genius. It is always lovely to have champagne of course, but an icy treat in the searing afternoon heat was perfection. Some people (not naming any names of course) managed to score two ;)
Robert Rabensteiner, Fashion Editor L'Uomo Vogue, with a friend's puppy (below). Another photographer and I looked after him while his owner was watching the show....we tried to give him some water but he was more interested in trying to snuffle up the ice-cream drips which had landed on the ground than the water :)
One of the models with Anastasia Barbieri (below): One cute puppy I sneaked a photograph of on my long, hot walk to Paul Smith: Models, Magnum ice creams and Beer after the Paul Smith show: p.s. you can click on the collage to make it larger
